Detailed below you will see the various different members who make up the Trust board.
Rick (Richard) Duniec
Chairman
A Leeds supporter both from near and afar since 1965-66. The first match Rick remembers is the Liverpool Cup final on a
black and white TV but he attended a few games at Elland Road before that (in the boys pen and on the Lowfields). Because
Rick played local football on Saturdays he mostly attended Leeds’ midweek fixtures and those of course included our early
forays into Europe. Rick is a graduate of the University of East Anglia and he spent a year in The City, before moving
into business systems sales in the UK, Ireland and Arabian Gulf states, and more recently Rick has been involved in
financial Services and has minor commercial property interests. Rick was a former bondholder and season ticket holder in
the East Stand upper.
From January 2004 - 2006 Rick was heavily involved with the SLU (SaveLeedsUnited) group and was very active behind the scenes which included communications and discussions with many of the more widely known figures involved in proceedings surrounding the club. Rick also attends LU Supporters Club executive meetings representing the Benelux overseas branch. Rick is a paid-up lifetime member of the Supporters Trust.
To quote Rick, "My objectives have always been (and remain) to seek a greater involvement for the fans in our club and to strive to prevent the inappropriate financial exploitation of the fan base. Essentially I believe that the fans require and deserve a fair return on their 'investment' in the club".
Gary Hewitt
Treasurer
Gary is a lifelong Leeds United fan and, as such, fully supports the aims of Leeds United Supporters Trust. He regularly
attend matches at Elland Road although away travel is no longer possible due to family and work commitments.
Through his contribution to various Leeds United forums and fanzines he feels that he has an insight into many of the issues facing supporters of our Club. He is a member of the Football Supporters Federation and has campaigned on several supporter issues in recent years, most notably the campaign for Safe Standing areas at top flight football grounds.
In 1999 he became one of the founding members of SAFE (Standing Areas for England) and continues to campaign on this vital issue at both local and national level. He lives in Guiseley, Leeds with his partner and his 2 children aged 4 and 6, both of whom have already attended Leeds United matches!
Patrick Bushell Communications Director
Patrick is a lifelong supporter of Leeds, dating back to his first live game in the 1973-74 season. Brought up in Wakefield, Patrick has loyally supported Leeds through all of the ups & downs and had a season ticket for around 20 years. A former Bond Holder in the East Upper, Patrick has now taken up residence in the kop, and attends as many away games as family and work commitments allow.
After 20 years living in London and the South East, Patrick has finally returned to Yorkshire and now lives with his wife Karen, daughter Isabel 7 and son Henry 4 in Richmond, North Yorkshire. You might even have met his children, as they were with him at the Burnley and Darlington pre-season games in 2007, handing out “Save Leeds” leaflets! He is currently “educating” his children in the benefits of supporting Leeds versus the evil of M*nchester United or Newcastle; the teams which most of the kids in Richmond seem to support….sadly.
His works as a Management Consultant and holds a Degree in Russian and History from University College London (SSEES); and a Masters in Business Administration from Warwick Business School.
After years watching the soap opera of Leeds United unfold in front of his eyes, Patrick is now keen to get actively involved in improving the situation at LUFC, particularly for the long-suffering supporters. He sees the Trust as an ideal vehicle to do this and is prepared to work hard to achieve the aims of the Trust and its members.
Richard Lyne New Membership Director and Webmaster
A lifelong LUFC supporter, Richard's first memory of Elland Road is when his grandfather took him up into the "new" John Charles stand, when the team played in blue and gold quartered shirts. He also remembers his father pointing out Don Revie, just after he had joined the club, when he led the team out as captain.
Richard attended almost all the matches and all the cup finals in the "glory years" and attended every match, home and away, in 68/69, the year we won the Division with only two defeats.
Richard is now a twenty-year season ticket holder and a paid up lifetime member of the LUFC Trust. He served on the Fan's Forum that was set up by the club in the Ridsdale era. He saw the Forum as an attempt to improve communication between the club and the fans that ultimately failed. He hopes the Trust can perhaps take up this role.
Richard works as a manager/owner of websites and lives in the countryside near Otley.
