LUST Protest Against Chelsea Luring Youth Players
*UPDATE* – 27th April 2006

Leeds United Supporters’ Trust had written to the Football Association to protest about press revelations that Chelsea Football Club has allegedly offered cash inducements to lure under-16 Academy players away from Leeds United.

In his letter to the Director of Corporate Affairs at the FA, John Cave, Vice Chair of Leeds United Supporters’ Trust, calls for rigorous procedures to be put in place to prevent a few leading clubs stockpiling young talent at the expense of other less wealthy clubs.

“Clubs like Leeds United spend a great deal of money on Academies, nurturing young players,” says John Cave. “If, after some three or four years, the best players are then lured away by big clubs like Chelsea, without suitable compensation, why bother?”

On 16th February we received a reply from the Football Association regarding this issue.
