Hull City Travel Restrictions

Nov. 8th, 2005

Following our concerns and letter to Leeds United about the impositions imposed on our away match travel arrangements earlier in the year we are very disappointed to learn of the similar situation Hull City fans now find themselves in when travelling to Elland Road.

Leeds United Supporters Trust (LUFC Trust) are extremely disappointed to hear that the West Yorkshire police intend to introduce both travel and numbers restrictions for Hull City fans traveling to Elland Road for the News Eve fixture next month.

LUFC Trust agree wholeheartedly with the statement put out by Adam Pearson the Hull City Chairman when he says that they should receive the tickets to 10% capacity of the crowd and that they be allowed to travel to the game by whatever means they wish.

LUFC Trust believe that this a seriously misguided attempt by the police to impose a scheme that threatens the very essence of football support in this country. Indeed if Hull City carries out their threat to not accept any tickets for the game in a protest at the imposition; then the police will be making a rod for their own back as we are already aware of Hull City supporters thinking of making personal arrangements to buy tickets amongst the rank and file of Leeds United supporters thus potentially causing the very problems the police were so keen to limit.

We are seeking an urgent meeting with the West Yorkshire police in order to make our unease and that of the weight of football supporters generally known to them. We have written to Leeds Untied in the recent past about a similar imposition placed upon our fans for the trip to Cardiff City this season. Our concern that this will become the 'norm' appears to becoming fulfilled.
